Pangaea Geographical Association (Est. Year- 2020, Reg. No.- MH/149/2021(22 feb. /2021) and F-30946 (28 Sept. 2021, Register Under Society Act. Govt. of Maharashtra) Pangaea Geographical Association (PGA) is a non governmental organization, which is duly registered by the govt. of Maharashtra under Indian Trust Act.

Pangaea Geographical Association is a dynamic platform committed for promoting geographical knowledge, environmental awareness, and interdisciplinary research on global and regional issues. Named after the ancient supercontinent “Pangaea,” symbolizing unity and interconnectedness, the association fosters collaboration among geographers, environmentalists, educators, students and policy-makers as well. Its mission is to advance the study of geography as a tool for sustainable development, climate resilience, spatial analysis and social transformation. Through conferences, publications, workshops and outreach programs the association aims to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world geographic challenges.
Pangaea Geographical Association is a professional organization dedicated to development of Geography. The organization was founded by Professor Dr. Praveen Saptarshi from Pune and Prof. Santosh Mane from Malshiras, along with Prof. (Dr.) S. D. Shinde, from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Dr. K. M. Jamadar, Dr. B. M. Bhanje, BCUD Director, Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Solapur, Dr. Jyotiram More from Pune, Dr. T. N. Lokhande, Dr. Harish. B. Tipe, Dr. N. I. Dhayagude, Dr. Adavitot, Dr. Nadaf from Goa, Dr. etc. The idea of establishing such an organization dedicated to promote interdisciplinary research activities was whole heartedly supported by the scholars and scientists working in the field of environment and sustainability from abroad, viz. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Raquib Ahmed from Bangla Desh, Professor Lal Mervin Dharmasiri and Professor A. G. Amarsinghe, from Sri Lanka, Dr. Ranjit Gajanan Gurav, Texas State University, US, Professor Kedar Rijjal and Professor Umesh Kumar Mandal, from Nepal, Dr. Babalola Ayodele Samuel from Nigeria, Dr. Azaram Parastoo, Nagin alley, Akhundi Alley, from Iran, etc. The members of other organizations like IIG, NAGI, MBP, DGS, etc. also welcomed the idea.
At present the PGA has about 777 life members and 28 institutional members. As per the constitution of the Pangaea Geographical Association a governing body of 7 to 17 members is formed democratically by conducting elections after every 5 years. All the office bearers are also elected within the governing body.
The Pangaea Geographical Association (PGA) is a leading organization dedicated to the promotion of geographical knowledge and education. Since its establishment, PGA has successfully organized 25 National and International Conferences, more than 35 workshops, seminars and training programs fostering academic exchange and capacity building in the field of geography.
PGA also plays significant role in teacher training, refresher courses in collaboration with government and other institutes. Committed to innovation and outreach, the PGA continues to serve as a vital platform for geographers, educators, and students to engage with contemporary geographical challenges and technological advancements.
The Pangaea Geographical Association (PGA) gratefully acknowledges the vision and dedication of its founders and past leaders. Their tireless efforts and commitment have laid a strong foundation, guiding the organization to its present stature. The work put forth by young geographers and scholars is deeply appreciated with positive suggestions by the organization. Hopefully, this mission will be continued by the generations to come.
